before the beginning of my life here in greensboro, Hugh and I finished our 4 week roadtrip– which went a little something like this– final destination before back to greensboro, annapolis MD. boats, family, beer. grand finale photos below.

ok. so it’s been awhile. if you said it’s been too long even, you’d be correct.

but here’s the thing. somehow after montreal i wound up in greensboro, nc in a little yellow, 100 year old house with 3 roomates and 3 chickens. and as you can imagine such a fantastic situation, you can imagine i decided to stay for the next year.

so here’s the basic rundown of my current life.

i work with three women in a radical hair salon called Figaro’s where i’m currently learning any and everything about hair. my roomates and i have been canning any and everything in our path. our house has a fireplace, [haunted] basement, so much love, but no internet and no air conditioning. my roomates names are katrina, kyle, and casey. currently our household is simultaneously stuck on russian literature. currently i’m trying to settle down, i’ve unpacked the contents of my pack, am beginning to collect possessions, and have not unrolled my sleeping bag for 3 weeks now, in exchange for a full size mattress with white, cotton sheets.

to think, one year ago i was living in a tiny aging pottery studio, on the other side of the planet, caring for the sheep filled green paddocks of lil old new zealand.

things are changing. i’ll tell you more about it soon.

never too late to be a camper

you’re either a camp person, or you’re not. since i never did spend my summer days doing organized canoe trips in matching yellow t-shirts, i think i would most likely be labeled a big, fat, ‘not’.

but thank goodness 23 is the perfect age to give it another go. i cannot tell you how excited i was to stand in giant people circles, sing various songs about shaking your feet, and take part in some serious nap time. all to the tune of councilor kathrin gilbert’s music-note lanyard-ed whistle.

and the overall assessment? camp is so cool. camp is time to not only be weird but be encouraged to be weird. an alternate universe where no one looks at you funny for singing as loud as you can as off-key as you can while doing a viking imitation. if everyone knew it was this good, who wouldn’t be a camp kid?

and, as the theme of this trip goes, we are again just so lucky to have kathrin and nate to indulge us in our theatre camp aspirations.

where the licence plates read ‘live free or die’ there happens to be a teeny tiny theartre camp, nestled inbetween moose crossing signs and mountains, in teeny tiny whitefield, new hampshire.

oh and it just so happens this camp was founded by a not so teeny man named Nate Gilbert who just so happens to be the older brother of one of my very best friends, the pretty teeny (in height only, mind you) Kathrin Gilbert.
